Karen Henriksen

Karen Henriksen creates tailored hats and caps for men and women, bringing a milliner’s sensibility, artistry and craftsmanship to everyday headwear. A singular approach to pattern-cutting is at the heart of each design, combined with an enduring quest to find the perfect balance of elegance and practicality.

Following her graduation from the Royal College of Art in 2003, Karen established the brand at her London studio in Cockpit Bloomsbury, where she continues to design and make her collections.

Showing at Paris Fashion Week each season between 2007 and 2020, her hats can be found in stores and boutiques across Europe, Asia and North America.

A pioneer in selling headwear online, her online shop was launched back in 2009, and has gone on to become the backbone of her practice.

Now turning her attention to interiors, Studio KH is an exciting new direction for Karen, that will sit alongside but separate from her hat collections. Continuing a theme of ‘everyday elegance’, her sculptural light shades are handmade using couture millinery techniques and materials, designed to enhance either home or public space.

Karen is also the author of ‘Design and Make Fashion Hats’ (A&C Black 2009) - a practical, detailed and inspiring guide to millinery.
