Ascot Top Hats Ltd are a traditional Hatter specialising in both New Toppers and Antique / Vintage Silk Plush Top Hats. The company was started in 2006, in Ascot Berkshire, and presently based in Wokingham.
Douglas Simpson, the owner having need of a Silk Top Hat for the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot was fascinated that they were no longer made off the shelf, and mainly restored vintage items. Having previously studied Manufacturing Engineering and Management at Uni, it rekindled a fire inside, he then started the hat business, rediscovering old techniques and whilst creating new ones.
A main aim of businesses is maintaining and promoting traditional British headwear standards.
Starting with Silk Top Hats, their range expanded to include Bowlers and other traditional gentlemen’s hats and caps, as well as ceremonial headwear.
Ascot Top Hats now also provide hat fitting, refurbishment and hat repair services. Serving both consumer and business customers.
