Materials and Techniques

Parabuntal was the very finest woven straw available to milliners for many years. Sadly today it is unobtainable. Because of its tight wear it is very difficult to block. However, it has a distinctive warm natural hue that lends itself to simple easy wear shapes. Parabuntal can also be died in many shades.

The hat was made many years ago by Rose Cory, one of our Honorary Members. Rose Cory made the distinctive hats for Elizabeth the Queen Mother. She later became a tutor in the craft who trained a generation of milliners.
