Jo Miller

Jo Miller studied an MA in Millinery at the Royal College of Art after retraining from a background in Fine Art. Upon graduating she went on to work for three years in Stephen Jones’ model department, honing her millinery skills and understanding of the industry.

In 2015 she was chosen to be a resident milliner at Sarabande Studios, set up by the Lee Alexander McQueen Foundation to support young designers pushing the boundaries of their field. Here, she spent two years building up her experience of collaborating on headwear with other designers, such as Sophia Webster, Studio XO and James Kelly, alongside developing her own practice.

Today, she has her own studio focusing on concept and process led millinery within fashion. Project based rather than producing seasonal collections she works experimentally between traditional and extreme millinery practices. Key to her work is fiercely having no material bias and can be found working with high and low materials, alongside constantly pushing the design process to find what cannot be imagined. She continues to collaborate with fashion designers, recently working with Marta Jakubowski SS19 and Rose Danford-Phillips AW19.
